An outdoor but indoor experience.. My Fiancee and I visited The Tree House on a Monday night. It was nice and quiet with only a few couples and one waitress.
First impressions was the decor, the whole place was furnished with heavy wood furniture which had a un-sanded look. You can't but help feel the contours of the tables, the knots in the wood. It does however mean that you have to be a bit more careful when placing drinks on the tables, especially if you have had a few alcoholic drinks. The fairy lights on the ceiling mimic stars and the outdoor style furniture give the whole place a feeling of outdoor dining.
The waitress was very polite and friendly and while we were deciding where to sit she recommend a table which, in the bitterly cold weather we have been having was, welcomely, right next to the radiator.
I ordered a beer and my fiancee ordered the house red. Now normally, my fiancee is pretty picky with wines, so I was relieved to hear that she liked the house red. Fruity with a clean aftertaste so the owners have good taste in wine thats for certain. Indeed, the drinks and wine selection is varied and caters for all tastes.
We ordered starters and mains. I had the curried crab which was off the specials for the day, my other half had the bread selection as she could not decide on a starter. Needless to say, the bread selection was good and varied with some interesting breads. The curried crab I had was well presented and had a very nice texture. I was expecting something slightly spicy, and sadly it was very mild. But it did very well at clearing the palet for the main course.
During this time I was engrossed in conversation with my fiancee and I didn't even notice the waitress replace our cutlery which was a refreshing change from the usual "your in my way" attitude that a lot of waiting staff usually have.
For a main I had the Venison which I asked to be cooked medium rare, and just as requested thats what I got as so often I never get meat cooked the way I request, the venison was cooked exceedingly well. It was soft and juicy, but it did seem to lack a little seasoning. The venison came with potato dauphinoise which again was nicely cooked. It was probably a little dry for what I would normally like as I like quite a lot of sauce, but the potatoes were soft and the creamy flavour was spot on. The red cabbage that came with the dish was perfect and the sauce was packed ful of flavour if a little salty.
My Fiancee had a burger which a tomato relish. The burger was perfect and the chips which were presented in a little metal bucket were tasty. I tried the relish, which was very tasty, however I wasn't that keen on the large chunks of onion.
Both dishes were very well constructed and all the favours worked well together and both portions were of a good size. You definitely wouldn't feel hungry after a meal here. Indeed we were so full, we didn't have room for desert after.
My only real criticism is the service charge being automatically applied to the bill at 12.5%. No doubt we probably would have tipped this for the staff anyway as we left feeling very happy with the service, but I generally dont like restaurants almost forcing us to pay for the service which should be discretionary with the customer. I certainly like to feel that my tip is going to the staff however and not to the restaurant owner.
But to sum up, the service was excellent and the food very good. With the ambiance of the restaurant including the interesting furnishings it was a good night out and I would probably visit again.
"The Tree House offered an exceptional dining experience. The shawarmas were flawlessly cooked, and the bar staff were impeccable in their service. They were exceptionally considerate, preparing dishes that catered to those with allergies. The ambiance was inviting, and the service was truly top-notch. We had an unforgettable time. Highly recommended!" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The food and the service are amazing. However there needs to be a way where the servers can get a tip without having to pay cash (because who has cash these days?!)
